PORT HOPE — The Municipality has gone through a change in leadership.

Former executive director Sue Bernardi, who oversaw the management of Port Hope’s business matters, has taken on a new role of team leader with the municipal project staff. That team will be working closely with the historic low-level radioactive waste cleanup.

The team leader is a full-time position.

With the project ramping up in the coming months, and as the volume of activities are expected to increase, the municipality is beginning to implement the MPS team to manage the municipal requirements of the Port Hope Area Initiative project.

The leader will work with the PHAI staff, agents and Municipal staff to ensure an efficient co-ordination of operational aspects of the project.

As a result, former deputy clerk Brian Gilmer has been promoted to director of corporate services and clerk.

Mr. Gilmer joined the municipality as deputy clerk in August. He was formerly deputy clerk for the Township of Perry and municipal clerk of Cramahe Township.
