Kaitlin Group is hoping that the rare combination of waterfront location and close proximity to Toronto will attract new home buyers to its Lakebreeze community, now in its third phase.
Located in Bowmanville, the largest community in the municipality of Clarington and home to approximately 44,000 residents, the new phase was launched at a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony.
At the event, Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster pointed to many of the area’s attractions, including a thriving historic downtown, numerous independent businesses and franchise stores, services, cafes, restaurants, recreation complex, healthcare, hospital and schools. There is also, a strong sense of community here, lots of annual events and festivals, the Motorsport Park is nearby and no shortage of great fishing in the area.
Phase three of Lakebreeze will have a wide selection of homes to choose from: contemporary ‘towns units’ start from as low the mid $300s; linked singles and semis are priced in the low $700s; detached homes with double-car garage homes start from the mid $900s; and ,waterfront rooftop towns and “Lake House” models are priced from the $700s up to $3 million.
One of the larger units — which I toured (please see video) is a beautifully decorated waterfront home complete with five-bedrooms and a master bedroom, with full view of Lake Ontario in one direction and a green space in the other.
Nearby amenities include two miles of waterfront; a spacious waterfront trail to walk, run or bike; some gorgeous open spaces including a community park and a splash pad.
The new development is also close to ambitious waterfront revitalization plan at the nearby Bowmanville Marina and Event Space facility.
“Now that we’ve acquired and renovated the Bowmanville Marina (formerly named the Port Darlington), the on-site inn and suites and The Deck Bar & Grill, it’s a fantastic additional amenity within easy walking distance,” says Bill Daniell, president of Kaitlin Corp. “Homeowners can enjoy a drink, or a meal and their out-of-town guests can stay at the inn and suites.”
I spent some time chatting with Daniell talking about his long-term vision for the project. The plan is to build a multi-purpose waterfront community space consisting of the marina, clubhouse, restaurant, event venue, resort hotel and residential condos representing a $250 million investment.
If you live in Lakebreeze, the Bowmanville Marina just around the corner is not only a place to hang out, but ideal for family/friend events and gatherings… so basically you have an event space in your backyard, says the builder.
He has put together a dream team that will help him “make the best use of all the area’s facilities” including a general manager, marina manager, head chef, restaurant manager and wedding and event co-ordinator.
Also of note, and a huge point of pride for Daniell, is that the newly renovated Bowmanville Marina and Event Space will bring 70 new jobs to the area.
