NEWCASTLE — Get ready to cast off for the 24th annual Wooden Boat Festival at the Port of Newcastle Marina on Saturday, July 21.

The popular summer event features fascinating wooden boats of local wood boat lovers, a local boat builder and the Trent Severn Antique and Classic Boat Association.

“We do it every year,” said Alison Woollacott, manager of the Port of Newcastle Marina. “It’s a day everyone looks forward to.”

There will be free admission and free dockage for the event. It will include boat and vendor displays, a lunch barbecue, a jumping castle and games for the children and all-day musical entertainment.

Steve Hunter takes the stage from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a steel drum band performing in the beer garden.

“She gets everybody into the summer mood,” said Woollacott.

The evening fun will include a pizza party and great music from the Reckless Minstrel Buskers.

“It’s an all day community event,” said Woollacott.
