The holidays are coming and we want to make sure you have a safe and merry Christmas. Doug Schott is a firefighter with Kenora Fire & Emergency Services. He was in to share a message from the Ontario Fire Marshall about holiday fire safety.
1) Make sure you have smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and test them every month
2) Create a home fire escape plan and practice it with your family
3) Cooking is the main cause of fire during the holidys
4) Make sure candles are in a safe, sturdy holder and keep them away from children, pets and anything that can burn.
5) Smoking is a leading cause of fatal fires during the holidays
6) Alcohol is a 1 in 5 factor in fatal fires during the holidays
